Zébrures - Silence
A woman watches her neighbor standing motionless behind a window. There is no exchange between them. Yet something is already beginning to crack. Thoughts go off the rails, images flood in, and the space of everyday life gradually becomes the scene of violence that cannot be contained. In *Silence*, Congolese author Israël Nzila crafts a tense, fragmented narrative, punctuated by repetitions, gasps, and outbursts. A language that teeters on the brink of collapse.
Through the stories of women confronted with the violence of war and sexual violence, the text explores the scars left by rape, the imposed silence, and the wounds that continue to linger long after the events have passed.
