In 1789, France adopted a Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which was incorporated into the constitution. Olympe de Gouges, a writer and staunch feminist, then drafted another declaration on the rights of women and female citizens in 1792, stating: %AB Women have the right to ascend %E0 the scaffold; they must also have the right to ascend %E0 the podium. %BB

In this superb exhibition, taken from his book %AB Exceptionnelles, Vol. 2%AB, the caricaturist DEVO pays a magnificent tribute to all those women who have worked and continue to promote freedom, equality, and women’s rights.
