La forêt de Ligoure

Dominated by the medieval silhouette of the Château de Châlucet, the Ligoure forest is a 40-hectare stopover where history and nature intermingle. Located in the commune of Saint-Jean-Ligoure, this departmental site invites you to immerse yourself in the centuries-old beech and oak forests that line the Briance river.

A former estate of the Le Play family, the massif retains traces of its past, with its fishery and guard house. Today, it also serves as a testing ground for the future: "islands" of pubescent oak and liquidambar are being tested to adapt to tomorrow's climate. Visitors can explore the undergrowth, inhabited by discreet fauna, via an interpretation trail or a fun digital trail. A preserved landscape, combining the ruggedness of ancient stone with the vitality of a forest in motion.

How to get there

From the A20 freeway, take exit 38 towards Solignac/Le Vigen/Pôle de Lanaud and follow the road signs along the Châlucet road to the Châlucet Ligoure parking lot.
