GRP® Monts et Barrages en Limousin - Etape 3 - De Saint-Julien-le-Petit au lac de Vassivière (Auphelle)

The objective of this third stage of the GR® de Pays Monts et Barrage in Limousin is the majestic Lac de Vassivière!

But before you can relax there, you'll have to cover 23 km and climb 670 m to reach one of Haute-Vienne's highest peaks, Puy la Besse, topped by its Tumulus. A breathtaking view of the Plateau de Millevaches awaits you.

Along the way, take a break in the village of Peyrat-le-Château to enjoy its charm and shops, before continuing your ascent towards Quenouille, a small village with preserved rural buildings typical of the Montagne Limousine: granite houses, bread ovens, washhouses, drinking troughs and wells line the roads and paths adorned with low dry-stone walls.

One last effort and you've arrived at your destination on the banks of France's 7th largest man-made lake, a sight to behold!
