Centre de la mémoire d'Oradour

The Centre de la Mémoire presents a historical and documentary exhibition on the massacre of the inhabitants on June 10, 1944, by a unit of the SS Das Reich division in the context of the Second World War. Its aim is to bear witness, inform and provoke reflection. It is a plea for peace between peoples. The events of June 10, 1944: the population of the Limousin village of Oradour-sur-Glane was massacred by a troop of around 200 SS waffen. Preserved as it is today, the site bears witness to the Nazi atrocities and the need for remembrance, as a tribute to the 643 victims of this despicable crime.

During the April vacation and July-August, guided tours are offered daily at 2:30pm (no reservations required).
