📍 Pensol
Fontaine Saint Cloud
Devotional fountains (or good fountains) are an emblematic part of the heritage of many French regions. Even today, they can still be the subject of therapeutic rituals, depending on the medicinal properties or particular benefits attributed to them. The Pensol devotional fountain takes its name from the fact that its church, once dedicated to Saint-Sauveur, was later dedicated to Sainte-Cloud de Nogent, Cloud or Clodoald (6th century), a Merovingian prince who became a monk and founded the Abbey of Saint-Cloud. This fountain was reputed to cure boils.
