Fresque Poulidor et Saint-Léonard de Noblat
The memory of Raymond Poulidor is proudly displayed in his adopted town. A large, colorful fresco celebrates the popular cycling champion on the facade of the former octroi building, now home to the tourist office.
Created by Limoges-based artist Sêma Lao, the fresco is a nod to his legendary duel with Anquetil at the puy de Dôme in 1964, but also to the charm of the medieval city: half-timbered houses, a collegiate church listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, railway viaduct and bridges over the Vienne river...
The work was created in 2023 to celebrate the start of the 9th stage of the Tour de France in Saint-Léonard de Noblat, in collaboration with AkzoNobel, partner and Official Supplier of the Tour de France as part of AkzoNobel's "Let's Colour" program.
