Brundibar - Opéra de Limoges

Children’s opera in two acts—libretto by Adolf Hoffmeister.

With his barrel organ, Brundibär entertains passersby and reigns supreme over the market square. He has no pity for anyone, least of all for the two little beggars, Pepicek and Aninka, who dared to venture onto his turf. Fortunately, the two children can count on the help of a sparrow, a dog, and a cat. Victory over oppression and indifference is made possible through solidarity.

Composer Hans Krása was a brilliant figure on the Czech scene when World War II broke out. *Brundibár*, a parable of Nazi oppression, offers hope amid the hell of the concentration camps.
