Danser sur le volcan - Théâtre de l’Union
Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes
WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY JUSTINE CANETTI
A graduate of ESTU, Justine Canetti explores the legacy of the 1980s in the context of COVID-19 and celebrates our appetite for partying. What’s the connection between the ’80s and 2020? Every era has its own virus and its own epidemic. On the one hand, the gay community stood up to AIDS by partying. On the other, COVID-19 has confined people to their homes and prevented them from gathering. In both cases: fear, speculation, paranoia. Justine Canetti has conceived a sensual tragedy in five acts—corresponding to the five senses—that navigates between different time periods and celebrates the energy of youth.
