A meeting, a lecture? Following an initial installment last year on Maloya—Reunion Island’s traditional “music of resistance”— journalist and filmmaker Anne-Laure Lemancel returns this year to explore its contemporary variations. It’s a deep dive into the island’s contemporary sounds, through words and music, followed by a meeting with Reunion Island-born jazz artist, Valérie Chane-Tef, who will be performing the next day at the Théâtre de l’Union, for a conversation about the island’s unique character.
