Exposition Les prisonniers de guerre français

The Musée de la Résistance de la ville de Limoges is presenting its new exhibition on one of the events of the Second World War. "French Prisoners of War" highlights the period following France's defeat in the global conflict.

In the summer of 1940, over 1,600,000 of the 1,800,000 captured French soldiers were taken to Germany. These prisoners of war, aged between 18 and 48, from all socio-professional categories, from metropolitan France, the overseas territories and the former French colonies, shared until the summer of 1945 the harsh experience of captivity, which made them part of a veritable community.
