Expositions : Faut-il couper les tiges ? Gabriel Rétif

Artist designer and scenographer Gabriel Rétif explores the dual notion of "décor": the artificial space of a staging and the ornament of an object.

For his carte blanche at the museum, he transforms a brand-new exhibition hall into a "flower room": a botanical collection, a real greenhouse and a clearing for the fake, a temple to still life where reverie blossoms with the rustle of discreet animals.

"Should we cut the stems?" asks the artist.

In response, his masterful work in porcelain combines figurative, realistic and illusionistic motifs around an eminently classical subject: the floral motif, the vase and its bouquet.
