Focus sur le clavicorde
The Limoges Conservatory invites you to discover one of the treasures of its instrument collection: the clavichord. Descended from the medieval tympanon, this keyboard instrument is the ancestor of the pianoforte, which in turn was the precursor to the modern piano. Similar in design to the virginal, it captivates with the delicacy and intimacy of its sound. Throughout the day, come listen to the clavichord performedby the teachers and students of the Keyboard Department, and deepen your knowledge through a lecture dedicated to its history, how it works, and its musical uses.
