Génération Céramique - Bernardaud
Over the last twenty years or so, thousands of young craftsmen and artists from all over the world have chosen clay as a medium for self-expression. The movement is proving to be overwhelming and surprisingly enduring. The reasons for this success are manifold, and have much to do with the global socio-political context, the need to exist individually and collectively, and to anchor oneself in a shaky world.
At the same time, ceramics has ostensibly moved towards contemporary art. Theoretical and aesthetic questions, halfway between the visual arts, philosophy, psychoanalysis and sociology, have been constantly jostling with each other, shifting debates and boundaries. With this in mind, the Fondation d?entreprise Bernardaud presents works by 20 international artists it considers representative of the ceramic generation.
