In Elsa Granat’s family, there’s the father, the mother, the daughter, and the grandfather. This story begins in the narrow hallway where everyone goes about their business, but then Grandpa goes off the rails. Immersed in his epic reading of Cervantes, he can no longer distinguish between the adventures of the picaresque hero and his own reality as a frail old man. He is Don Quixote! Emergency family meeting: it’s his granddaughter who’ll find the solution by playing along with his imagination. Incorporating operatic singing and puppets into her lively household, she orchestrates a comical domestic upheaval.
