Quand la ville de lève - Théâtre de l’Union
Running time: 1 hour 35 minutes
TEXT AND DIRECTION BY CHARLOTTE LAGRANGE
Threatened with eviction, a perennial plant growing beneath a wooden floor, and the fiery glow of a red moon shining through a
hole in the roof? The answer lies in this production, which places the audience in a quadrifrontal setting as close as possible to the action, alternating between eras and spaces to explore rural exodus, gentrification, and the impact of urban development projects on people’s lives. Based on in-depth research and on-the-ground interviews, Charlotte Lagrange has crafted a suspenseful fictional story that begins at the headquarters of a public land-use planning agency in the presence of local farmers.
