The exhibition draws its inspiration from the very history of the Charles-Michels building, formerly a department store specializing in fabrics and clothing. This connection to the site’s history aligns with a desire to explore stories of everyday life—what is familiar and shared among us.
This exhibition explores the role of clothing in artists’ practices, whether viewed as a vehicle for identity or as a second skin. From fabric to the fetish object, from weaving to raw materials—whether plant-based, animal-derived, or petrochemical—andsecondhand items—this exhibition explores the ways in which visible or concealed bodies are viewed, displayed, and reflected upon through clothing.
