Siestes Musicales - Festival Éclats d'Émail 2026
This year’s selection of vinyl records, drawn from the Paulette and Jean-Marie Masse Collection, takes you to the boundaries of jazz and bossa nova. It is a Brazilian musical style derived from samba and influenced by Cool Jazz, now considered a jazz style in its own right. Bossa Nova emerged in 1958 with the record “Chega de Saudade,” written by Vinicius de Moraes (lyrics) and Antônio Carlos Jobim (music), and performed by João Gilberto.
Artists from other backgrounds then incorporated Bossa Nova into their repertoires: Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, as well as Charlie Bird, Coleman Hawkins, Stan Getz, and Dizzy Gillespie all made this new style their own by infusing it with their unique personalities. Settle back comfortably in our lounge chairs and let yourself be swept away by our tropical jazz siesta!
