%C0 Behind the writing of *Strange Fish* lies a sense of bewilderment mixed with a vague incomprehension that never leaves Astrid Bayiha as she hears figures that, regularly herald the deaths of those who decide to tear themselves away from their homeland and attempt the crossing of the Mediterranean. *Strange Fish* is the story of Nour, who was forced to flee her country for fear of being murdered. Alone at sea on a makeshift boat, Nour tells her story so she won’t forget and to try to survive. Emotions wash over her one last time, helping her body endure the extreme conditions of the journey. Her words take hold and unfold like an improvised swan song.
