Zébrures - Vert Soleil
In Vladimir Kazanevsky’s drawings, color is both reassuring and unsettling. Bright yellow, vivid red, crystal-clear blues: everything seems almost joyful. And yet, something resists. Beneath this strange sun, which illuminates as much as it weighs down, bodies line up, repeat themselves, and blend together. The crowd becomes a mass.
With relentless precision, the artist explores the tension between the individual and the masses, caught up in the mechanisms of power. Whether through silent complicity or brutal coercion, each person wavers, blends in, and disappears—or, conversely, attempts to set themselves apart in order to continue existing.
These images, immediately comprehensible, open up abysses. Marked by the war in Ukraine, these drawings resonate with particular poignancy, like a path through darkness toward a glimmer of light that remains distant.
