Zébrures - La Poupée Barbue

A child walks through the ruins. She talks, plays, remembers, and perhaps even makes things up. The war has displaced everything: bodies, borders, dreams, and even words themselves. In her arms, a strange bearded doll becomes a fragile refuge, a companion in survival, and a distorted remnant of a shattered childhood.

With *La Poupée barbue*, Cameroonian playwright Édouard Elvis Bvouma gives voice to a young girl caught up in the violence of armed conflict, who has gone from refugee camps to the hands of warlords. Yet this play is never merely a statement of fact. Infused with dark humor, tender moments, and vivid imagery, it unfolds like an inner journey in which the imagination continues to fight against collapse.
